Randy McCarthy introduces services by reading Philippians 1:1-11. In this thank you note written to the Church at Philippi, Paul rejoices in the fellowship in Christ Jesus he has enjoyed with the saints there, and the joy they have had together in the Lord. Paul identifies four areas in which he encourages the church to continue to grow in their devotion to Christ: to abound in love, to approve those things that are excellent, to be sincere and without offense, and to be filled with the fruits of righteousness.
Mark Wattenbarger speaks of the liberty that we have in Christ Jesus, teaching from Galatians 3:1-5. Mark echoes Paul’s charge that it is “foolish” to think that we can add to, or in any way contribute to, the eternal redemption that has been given us through the perfect work of Jesus Christ the Lord. Instead, God has called us to walk in righteousness as a result of the great gift of God’s Son.
