Altar of Incense | Prophecy of the Birth of Christ

Randy McCarthy introduced services reading prophecy from Malachi chapter 3.  He then opened services reading from Luke Chapter 1 about Zacharias and the Altar of Incense.   This is background information about the parents of John the Baptist in that Zacharias was a priest and his responsibility was to burn incense upon entering the temple.  He then spends some time explaining elements of the outer room of the temple that was visited by priests on a daily basis.  Returning to Luke, he tells of the angel foretelling of John’s birth from Elisabeth who was barren.

Allen Daniels gives an overview of Old Testament prophecy that was fulfilled in the birth of Jesus Christ.

“Water Baptism”  Acts 8:5,12,26-40; 1 Peter 3:21; Acts 2:38-46; Matthew 28:18-20

Question: Why should you be baptized?

Requirements for Scriptural Water Baptism:

1) A Proper Administrator: a man called and sent of God

2) A Proper Subject: a born again child of God, as evidenced by the fruit of the Spirit in his life

3) A Proper Motive: A belief in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, as stated by the Ethiopian Eunuch,   ….and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest.  And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.”  (Acts 8:36-37)

4) The Proper Mode: immersion (burial) in water      ” …….and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.  And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing. (Acts 8:38-39)
